MANHATTAN, NY – Wednesday night was one of the hottest evenings recorded in New York City’s history, 105 degrees, but that did not stop a capacity crowd of 550 people from attending the Spirit of New York Smooth Cruise Jazz Series.
The concert series has been sailing and satisfying staycationers for almost 14 years and Bill Zafiros of Marquee Concerts introduced the legendary Spyro Gyra, which played on Wednesday night. Zafiros said, “The series has been amazing over the past years and it gets better every year.”
While the heat on the streets was staggering, the Spirit of New York set sail, Spyro Gyra played their famous jazz, and a cool breeze swept across the bow.
For New Jersey residents and any traveler this is an easy breezy smooth jazz experience on the Hudson River, a “Staycation” must do. A quick ride to Penn Station and a seven minute walk and you can experience breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, all with a full buffet and fantastic tableside service.
Cruisegoers can enjoy God’s palette in the sky as the sun sets over the New Jersey.
One can imagine the tall ships from the past cruising into the harbor and the many sailing vessels that are on the waters today remind cruisegoers that the waterways of New York can be a traveler’s delight.
Leaving Chelsea’s Pier 61 at 6:30 p.m. for the Sunset Cruise, and again at 9:30 p.m. for the Moonlight Cruise each Wednesday until August, the Smooth Cruise Series is not to be missed. For Information Please Visit: www.smoothjazznewyork.com
