ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

MARCUS MILLER
Marcus Miller, winner of two Grammy® Awards, recipient of the 2013 Edison Award for Lifetime Achievement in Jazz (Holland) and the 2010 Victoire du Jazz (France), and appointed UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2013, is not only an exceptional musician – a multi-instrumentalist and world-renown bassist – but also a highly gifted composer and producer. The legendary album “Tutu,” written and produced for Miles Davis, sealed his international fame when Marcus was only 25. Over the course of his career, Marcus has collaborated with artists as varied and talented as Eric Clapton, George Benson, Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, George Duke, Wayne Shorter, Lalah Hathaway and Herbie Hancock. He also has produced his own genre-defying albums, among them “The Sun Don’t Lie,” “Tales,” “M2,” “Silver Rain,” “Free,” “A Night in Monte Carlo (with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra),” and “Renaissance.” Along with international tours, Marcus Miller hosts a weekly program on SiriusXM radio show, “Miller Time.”

EMMETT COHEN:
Jazz pianist Emmet Cohen has quickly become one of the most in demand musicians in New York. A finalist in both the 2011 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition and the 2015 American Pianists Association’s Fellowship, Cohen plays with the maturity and confidence of a seasoned veteran. With astonishing technique and an innovative harmonic palate, Emmet engenders a deep musical bond with his audience. Cohen has shared the bandstand with a plethora of musical luminaries, working regularly with Kurt Elling, Herlin Riley, Ali Jackson, Brian Lynch, Billy Hart, Jimmy Heath, and many others. He completed a bachelors in music at the University of Miami and a masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music. This piano phenom can be found playing either piano or Hammond B3 Organ in New York City and all over the world.

JANE MONTHEIT:
Jane Monheit is an American jazz and pop vocalist. She has collaborated with artists such as John Pizzarelli, Michael Bublé, Ivan Lins, Terence Blanchard and Tom Harrell, and has received Grammy nominations (2003, 2005) for two of her recordings.

JOHN PIZZERELLI:
John Paul Pizzarelli, Jr. is an American jazz guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and bandleader. He has had a lengthy career as a recording artist, performing for a variety of labels that include Telarc Records, RCA Records and Chesky Records, among others. He has recorded 23 albums of his own, as well as other joint recordings with his father, Bucky Pizzarelli. Additionally, John has appeared on more than 40 albums of other recording artists, including those of Paul McCartney, James Taylor, Rosemary Clooney and his wife, Jessica Molaskey.

CYRILLE AIMEE:
Cyrille Aimée
is a Brooklyn-based French jazz singer known for rhythmic songs with roots in jazz and gypsy styles. She won the Montreux Jazz Festival Competition in 2007, was a finalist in 2010’2 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, and won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition in 2012. Cyrille, whose father was French and mother was from the Dominican Republic, grew up in the French town of Samois-sur-Seine, in Fontainebleau, France. New York Times music reviewer Stephen Holden described her as a blend of Michael Jackson and Sarah Vaughan and wrote that the “saucy, curly-haired jazz singer with one foot in tradition and the other in electronics,” had a voice with a “tart, girlish chirp” and that her Surreal Band fused traditional and futuristic electronics with textures mixing jazz and funk. New York Times reviewer Nate Chinen wrote that Aimee had a “sweet, girlish voice that she controls with a sniper’s precision”.

ETIENNE CHARLES:
One of the most compelling and exciting young jazz artists ushering the genre into groundbreaking new territory is trumpeter/bandleader Etienne Charles, who, still in his 20s, has already recorded three impressive and well-received albums for his own Culture Shock Music imprint.
